Tarleton baseball and softball last homestand

On April 17, Hardin Simmons University faced off against Tarleton State University in baseball, and Texas Women’s University faced off against Tarleton in softball. The baseball team won 3-0 and the softball team lost 8-4.

In the home finale the Texans went through eight pitchers to create a three-hit shutout against Hardin Simmons.

In the first inning, Landon Thompson hit a two run double into center to score Noah Ringenberger and Blake Silguero to make the score 2-0, Tarleton.

In the sixth inning, Ringenberger hit a single that would score a run to make it a 3-0 game.

Tarleton’s pitching staff kept the game in lock by only allowing three hits the entire night.

Tarleton had a total of eight hits on the night. Thompson had two runs batted in and Ringenberger had one.

Tarleton will be on the road for the rest of the season and starting on April 20 they will take on Abilene Christian University with a four game stand.

Tarleton’s softball team took on TWU in their last home stand of the season and would record a 8-4 loss.

In the first, Arianna Rodriguez reached first base with a bunt, but the offense would be weak after that.

TWU had two hits and three walks in the third which helped them take a 3-0 lead over Tarleton.

Then, in the fourth inning TWU tacked on two more runs to take a 5-0 lead.

Samantha Swanda, Amber Sotelo and McKaylee Pittman were walked in the first four innings, but could not get anything done after reaching base.

In the fifth inning TWU kept the offense alive and added two runs to their five run lead to make the score 7-0.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Swanda came up to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a grand slam to make it a 7-4 contest.

TWU came back and answered the grand slam with a solo homerun to make it an 8-4 game.

Tarleton went on to lose the game 8-4.
