With all the construction around Tarleton State University, Harry Battson, the Assistant Vice President for Marketing & Communications, has provided an update on how far along the projects are and when they will be finished.

The following are the most recently updated:

  • Lot P39 (corner of St. Felix St. and W. Tarleton St.), according to Battson is complete and open for use. He then clarified, “P39 is designated as Red Zone (Residential parking) and was expanded to include an additional 24 spaces.”
  • Lot P44 (corner of Jones St. and Cain St.) opened Oct. 3. Battson then stated, “P44 is also a Red Zone lot for Residential students and provides an additional 32 parking spaces.”
  • Lot P43 (corner of Shirley St. and N. Lillian St.) opened two weeks ago. P43 is a lot for residential students and is labeled as a red zone.

The next area of construction, according to Battson, is going to be finished within the next two weeks, around Oct. 18.

  • The new driveway / connector from the Nursing Building (Blue Zone, Lot P26) to Lot P27 (Blue Zone/ Visitor Lot north of Science Building and west of the Barry B. Thompson Student Center).

The Tarleton website has a link for construction updates, as of Oct. 4, 2016, there are no recent updates since Sept. 26, 2016. However, there is more detailed information on what the plans for all construction projects on campus and on other campuses as well. The information below can all be found on the website, http://www.tarleton.edu/renovations/.

“The University has about $400 million in construction projects in some phase, from planning through near completion,” Battson said.

All residential dorms are expected to be completed before the fall semester ends. So far the only residence hall that is not completed yet is Traditions North, located next to the Recreational Sports Center.

The new synthetic turf is being installed on the lower recreation fields northwest of the Rec Center and sand volleyball courts at the intersection of Rome St. and Frey St. are complete. The $2 million project covers 140,000 square feet (3.2 acres), according to the Tarleton website.

The next construction project is already underway, which will expand pedestrian walkways along Lillian St., Vanderbilt St. and other campus core streets. Along with utility improvements to eliminate flooding issues and enhance lighting. That project is set out to be completed by Nov. 2017.

According to Battson, all the construction is to, “bring beauty and aesthetics to campus and make it much better for our students as they walk from place to place.”
