Tarleton football team ready for the homecoming game

This Saturday, the Tarleton State University Texan football team will play Texas A&M University-Kingsville in Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m.

The Texans, who are 4-1 in Lone Star Conference play, are coming off a thrilling road win 26-16 win against Eastern New Mexico University. The Texans are now 4-3 overall for the 2016 season.

During last week’s match, senior quarterback, Zed Woerner, went 29-47 and threw for 343 yards, for a total of three touchdowns and two interceptions.

All three of Woerner’s touchdowns came from passing, and wide receiver Jeff Thomas racked up 144 yards and one touchdown, while fellow wide receiver Del’Michael High had 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Texan kicker Sergio Sroka kicked 2-3 and scored a season high 44 yard- yard field goal.

The Javelinas are coming off a 56-7 win against LSC newcomer, The University of Texas at the Permian Basin. In their last meeting, the Texans defeated the Javelinas in Kingsville, 38-34.

The Texans, who are looking to extend their three-game winning streak, will kickoff Saturday at Memorial Stadium for a LSC showdown at 6 p.m.
