TexAnns set to hit off conference play in first home game of season

This weekend the Tarleton State University TexAnn softball team will open up conference play against Texas A&M University – Commerce in Stephenville, Texas. The TexAnns and Lions will face off on Friday at 6 p.m. and twice on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.

The TexAnns are currently 7-4 overall. During last week’s Dallas-Fort Worth Softball Bash,
the TexAnns won four of their six matches. They fell 6-7 against Oklahoma Panhandle University and 2-3 to Regis University.

The TexAnn outfielder Maddie Quintanar, was named as a top performer in the Lone Star Conference after the softball bash.

Quintanar led with 10 hits over the course of 6 matches. Quintanar also went 10 for 20 of her at bat and scored 11 runs. She also stole all eight of the eight bases she attempted to steal.

The TexAnn pitcher Haley Freyman, also earned 50th career win against Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

On last Friday’s 12-2 match against Lubbock Christian University the TexAnns forced a mercy rule, scoring 12 runs in five innings. After both teams scoring once in the first inning, the TexAnns scored 11 runs in the second and held Lubbock scoreless until they scored once in the fifth.

The TexAnns will begin conference play against Texas A&M University – Commerce at 6 p.m. in Stephenville, Texas.
