Amber Parks, of Parks Hill Technology & Marketing, is hosting ‘Dobby Day’ for Terry Dobson who has been battling colon cancer since 2015.

“Little Dobby was a childhood nickname for Terry Dobson Jr., the spouse of Tonya Dobson, who works at the Dick Smith Library,” Parks said. “Dobby Day is a benefit for he and his family. It is a day for Terry to be with the people he loves and do the things that he enjoys and it’s combined into one place, and a chance for those who love them to raise money to help out with his fight.”

This event is tomorrow, April 1, and there are events such as a golf scramble; a motorcycle ride; 100 Man Poker Tournament; silent auction; bounce house; food; corn hole and more are available for patrons to participate in. Certain activities cost money to participate in.

“The Poker Tournament is $50 Buy-In, $50 Re-buy; the Motorcycle ride, which includes a meal, is $25 per rider and $15 per passenger; the golf scramble is $20 per person and a food bracelet is $10 for adults and $5. To reserve a seat at the poker tournament, go here and sign up.

The event is being spearheaded by Parks.

“The Dobson’s are truly loved, and this idea had been tossed around many ways, so I rolled them all into one after networking with so many with people who wanted to help. Thankfully, everyone invested in making this a success have all fine-tuned the parts such as golf, music, auction, location, bike ride, etc,” Parks said. “We now have a team consisting of family and friends making it happen.

“This event is important because we want them to be able to enjoy the day with family and friends while we help them be able to offset some of their medical expenses.”

The event itself is the fundraiser. Portions of the fees from golf played all day will go to the benefit along with t-shirt sales, food, beverages, silent auction items, the motorcycle ride and the poker tournament. Donations are also accepted at Citizens National Bank in Stephenville for the Team Terry Account.

“The event is the combination of multiple people’s ideas of ways to help rolled into one event. I felt like combining it all into one day would give a broader variety of ways support them in some form or fashion and create a day of enjoyment for Terry to relax, laugh and think about his poker hand, not his next appointment,” Parks said.

“We would like to thank everyone who has helped with the event, donated or plan to attend. If you would like to contribute to the silent auction, items can be dropped off at Quality Printing or brought to the event Saturday morning.”

Dobby Day will be happening rain or shine with a great music line up and free admission for everyone to enjoy.”
