Changes coming to meals plans in fall 2017
April 17, 2017
Major changes will be coming in fall 2017 concerning meal plans and the different meal options that will be available to the students that live on campus. The cost of meal plans is changing, but Dining Dollars are also being added.
“I am very happy with the changes made to the meal options for our students. We took students input on the desire for more retail options and Dining Dollars as we looked at improvement opportunities,” Dr. Laura Boren, Vice President of Student Affairs, said. “We also looked for ways to make the meal program more valuable for students. In the end, we have a meal plan program that provides discounted rates and increased options.”
First and second year student meal plans have changed. The Carte Blanche 7 option has gone up from $100 Dining Dollars to $200 dollars, but the cost has also gone up from $1,953 dollars to $2,133 per semester.
The 15 meal plan options have changed from having $100 Dining Dollars a semester to $200 Dining Dollars and instead of it being $1,875, it is now $1,826 per semester. The 10 meal plan has gone from $125 Dining Dollars to $300 Dining Dollars and has gone down from $1,769 to $1,385 per semester.
“The 15 Meals with $200 Dining Dollars will be the default meal program for residential students who do not preselect a program prior to the start of school,” Boren said.
Third and fourth year residential and commuter student plans have changed as well. The Flex, 5 has gone from $50 Dining Dollars to $100 Dining Dollars and has gone up from $628 per semester to $675 per semester. The Ultimate Flex 5 stays the same with $1000 Dining Dollars, but has gone up from $1628 to $1636. There is also a new meal plan called the Texan Plan, which gives students just $125 for Dining Dollars and it costs $100 per semester.
“I appreciate Sodexo’s commitment to finding ways to best serve our students and community. Students will continue to see new food concepts piloted in the Dining Hall and special themed meals from top ranked chefs,” Boren said.
“The updated meal plan program represents the university practicing our Core Value of Excellence and living our vision statement of being the ‘premier student-focused institution in Texas and beyond.’”
