Fowler served as head football coach for six seasons before his resignation.

After six seasons as head coach of Tarleton State University football, and eight seasons total with the team, Coach Cary Fowler has resigned. The resignation was announced this morning via Tarleton Athletics.

“We would like to thank Cary Fowler for his dedicated service to Tarleton State University and the Texan Football program,” said Tarleton State University Athletic Director Lonn Reisman in a press release provided by Tarleton Athletics. “We wish him the best of luck in his future.”

In his final season as head coach he leaves the team with a 3-7 record. Before becoming head coach, Fowler was the defensive coordinator for Texan football for two seasons.

In 2013, Fowler lead the Texans to a Lone Star Conference championship (7-3 season record) and is the seventh most winning coach in Tarleton history with an overall record of 30 wins.

According to the press release, “Tarleton will begin the search for its 25th head coach in school history immediately.”
