Tarleton students get five day weekend

Tarleton State University issued a Code Purple on Wednesday Feb. 21 at 11:14 a.m. stating that all Tarleton campus were going to close at noon. Little did the Stephenville campus students know that this was going to be the first of many Code Purples of the week.

These two brutal ice days brought joy to some but darkness to others. Stephenville residents lost power and some cell service from towers freezing over.

Oncor Electric Delivery reported that over 2600 customers were without power. One cause of the power outage was trees that had fallen on power lines. Some power was not restored until Sunday Feb. 26.

After the majority of the frigid weather had past, members of the Tarleton community came out to help clean up the debris around the campus and Stephenville.
