The Texan-inspired maze was filled with twists and turns. However, the farm has a mazemap app that helps with maze navigation as well as a series of maps and puzzles to guide visitors to the end of the labyrinth.

Lonestar Family Farm was founded in 2013 by Josh and Ashley Ritchey. Their story starts in 2009 when the Ritchey’s began growing and selling watermelons and cantaloupes in Lubbock, Texas. In 2011, Josh and Ashley began harvesting pumpkins and created a you-pick pumpkin patch operation in Lubbock. After making their mark on Lubbock, the Ritcheys moved to Stephenville, Texas, home of the best kept secret. However, it is no secret that the Lonestar Family Farm has reached and serviced a multitude of autumn-loving Texans near and far. Since their move in 2013, the Ritcheys have added and expanded greatly to provide family fun for all that come.

The Lonestar Family Farm is located at 4199 Highway 67 Stephenville, Texas. The farm had its debut opening on Sept. 25, 2021. This fall-themed festival will end its season on Nov. 6, 2021. The farm is open on Friday from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. General admission is priced at $16.50 per person ages three and up. A ticket includes all activities including unlimited corn cannon shots, unlimited cow train rides and unlimited hayrides all day.

There are an endless amount of activities for families and students to partake in. A few attractions include the corn maze, hayrides, a sunflower field, farm animals, a hay bale maze, a cow train, a corn cannon and a pumpkin patch stocked with over 1,000 pumpkins. A few fan favorites include the corn maze, the pumpkin patch and the sunflower field.

Each year, the Lonestar Family Farm features a custom corn maze in honor of their sponsor. The past maze themes have included designs from sponsors like Bruner Auto Family, Texas Monthly and the Cade and Jessica Richmond Group of Keller Williams. The 2021 maze design features the Tarleton State University logo in honor of their sponsorship with the farm. There is also a Mini Maze crafted for kids hidden within the Giant Maze. This half-acre maze is ideal for younger guests that are not quite prepared to travel through the Giant Maze. Both the Giant Maze and Mini Maze are available to guests of all ages.

Another family friendly attraction is the pumpkin patch. Aside from photo opps, all pumpkins in the patch are available for purchase. Pumpkin prices range from $1 for minis to $65 for Big Max pumpkins. For visitors that would like to purchase pre-picked pumpkins, buying an admissions ticket is not necessary.

The sunflower field features an array of sunflowers that guests are free to use as a festive photo opportunity.

“The sunflower field was by far my favorite attraction. The flowers were tall and beautiful. We got some great fall photos to show our friends and families,” JTAC news content editor, Kayla Laseter said.
