“The Voice” finalist Luke Wade, pop/folk/soul singer- songwriter from Dublin, will receive a Texas-sized welcome to his hometown at noon Thursday, Dec. 4.

Luke is one of eight finalists from the original 48 who were chosen to compete for a record contract.  The next live performance show is Monday night with the live elimination announcement of the top five finalists on Tuesday night, Dec. 2.

A huge crowd is expected to converge on Wright Historical Park at noon on Thursday to welcome Luke who will arrive on the Dublin Bottling Works’ green antique delivery truck, a tip of the hat to Luke’s former job as soda jerk at Old Doc’s Soda Shop. Luke will sign autographs and perform atop the Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s parade float.

City officials will formally salute Luke by presenting him with a Key to the City.

Crews from “The Voice” may be on hand to document his hometown welcome for possible use on the show which airs on Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC-TV.

Pharrell Williams, Grammy Award winning record producer, singer and song writer, has served as Luke’s coach throughout the competition which starts with blind auditions and continues with weekly eliminations based on public votes.

Luke, who now lives in Fort Worth, is a graduate of Dublin High School, the youngest child of parents Bob and Wanda Wade. His brother, David, performs on sax and vocals in Luke’s band, No Civilians.
