Several students on the Tarleton State University campus have already been approached by Randi Morgan, a woman with a camera and a mission.

Morgan, a sophomore biomedical science major from Killeen, Texas, is the founder of “Humans of Tarleton State University” which is a Facebook page modeled after the popular human-interest page “Humans of New York.”

This page is “devoted to enabling students to get their stories and opinions out and it’s a way for them to be acknowledged here on campus,” said Morgan.

Morgan started the page because she “liked the way that it brought people together, even people who [are] from different cultures.”

She said it is also a great way for her to meet students around campus “especially the ones that are shy” like Morgan says she used to be.

“I hope to bring joy to the students and awareness to some of the issues that they are facing,” Morgan said, adding that she aims “to be their voice, in a sense… provide them with an outlet to express themselves.”

“[I choose] people who are by themselves,” Morgan said, “because usually (but not always), those students are more willing to open up and they have more time.” Morgan added that she looks for students who might typically shy away from the spotlight.

Morgan concluded that the reason she likes the people at Tarleton is because they give her a sense of belonging, and that is why she believes that this is where she is supposed to be.
