Senate bill S-04-14 will be voted on at the April 2 House of Representatives meeting

The House of Representatives meeting on Jan. 29, began with House Speaker Granger Boen resigning from his position. Following this announcement, House Secretary Gladys Barber also announced her resignation. Nominations to fill the positions were opened, with Eric Shultz being nominated for Speaker, and Geri Kline being nominated for House Secretary. Both were elected via acclamation, and will fill the roles next week.

The Faculty Senate decision on Tarleton’s smoking policy was revealed. The Vice President of University Relations spoke to the house about the official suggestion.

“The Faculty Senate has submitted their official recommendation toTarleton about the smoking policy. The official recommendation was to institute designated smoking areas,” Abigail Fesmire said.

Student Body President Chance Cerda opened a discussion about bike racks around campus, gathering information about where they are most used, and where the campus might need to add more. Following several comments, the idea of “Rent-a-bike” was brought up. Cerda took the idea in stride, stating he would bring the idea up to faculty members to discuss the viability of the idea.
