STEPHENVILLE, Texas-Fall commencement exercises at Tarleton State University will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14. Approximately 820 graduates will receive diplomas.

The College of Business Administration will conduct its graduation ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The College of Education will conduct its graduation ceremony at 1 p.m., followed by the College of Science and Technology at a 3:30 p.m. ceremony. The Colleges of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Liberal and Fine Arts will hold a joint ceremony at 6:30 p.m.

All four programs will be in Wisdom Gymnasium. The proceedings will be video-streamed live online on the Tarleton website,www.tarleton.edu. Specific link information will be posted prior to the event.

Tarleton President Dr. F. Dominic Dottavio will preside over the four ceremonies as 684 bachelor’s and 135 master’s degrees will be awarded to the university’s newest graduates.



Mr. Steven Moore, vice chancellor of marketing and communications for The Texas A&M University System, will offer greetings from the System office at each of the four commencement exercises.

The presentation of Departmental Outstanding Graduates will precede each college’s processional. The graduates, selected by the administration and faculty in the student’s major department, are chosen for excelling in leadership as well as academics.

The honorees include: Kevin Higgins of Fort Worth, accounting, finance and economics; Charity Shelbourne of North Richland Hills, computer information systems; Alexandria Duncan of Bluff Dale, management, marketing and administrative systems; Melody Holly of Granbury, curriculum and instruction; Kyndall Trnka of Caldwell, kinesiology; Chin Yeow of Cleburne, biological sciences; Jeffrey Hicks of Poolville, chemistry, geosciences and physics; Ely Symm of Farwell, engineering and computer science; and Lauren Bales of Hico, engineering technology.

Additional Departmental Outstanding Graduates include: Eric Olivas of Granbury, mathematics; Jennifer Dykes of Fort Worth, medical laboratory sciences; Julie Weems of Stephenville, nursing; Ashley Stegemoeller of Stephenville, agricultural and consumer sciences; Brooke Boyd of Georgetown, animal science and wildlife management; Jacob White of China Spring, environmental and agricultural management; Ian Troub of Copperas Cove, communication studies; Natalie Stringer of Stephenville, English and languages; and Whitney VanZandt of Stephenville, fine arts.

Master’s hooding ceremonies for all graduate degree candidates have also been scheduled. A 9 a.m. ceremony will be held for students participating in the 10:30 and 1 p.m. commencement exercises, while those participating in the 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. graduation ceremony will be hooded at a 2:30 event.

Locations for the 9 a.m. master’s hooding ceremonies include: College of Business Administration – Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center auditorium, and College of Education – Thompson Student Center ballrooms. The 2:30 p.m. hooding ceremony will be held in the Fine Arts Center auditorium and is a combined event for the Colleges of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Liberal and Fine Arts and Science and Technology.
