TexAnn golf places second at DBU Women’s Classic

The No. 7 ranked TexAnn golf team not only had to compete against the other teams in the Dallas Baptist University Women’s Classic, they also had to compete with the weather at the Golf Club of Dallas.

After the first day of competition the Tarleton girls were in fourth place. The TexAnns shot a 311, 23-over par. They were 14 shots behind the tournament leaders, St. Edwards, with a score of 297, nine-over par.

The TexAnns are led by Isabel Jimenez-Parea with a score of 75, three-over par. Jimenez-Parea was in a tie for eighth place after the first day of competition.

Beatriz Prados followed in a tie for 14th place with a score of 78, six-over par.

Jessica Pickwick and Sharon Lau were tied for 16th place with a score of 79, seven over par, and Maria Durie was tied for 48th place with a score of 86, 14-over par.

The Tarleton women’s golf team improved Tuesday’s score from Monday to card 32-over par for 297 over two days on the par-72, 5,879-yard course.

The TexAnns scored equal or better on the second day of competition to move up two places in the tournament and finish in second place. They were only behind St. Edwards, who finished 24-over par.

Jimenez-Parea continued to lead the Texans and scored two-under par on the second day with a 70. She finished third overall with a two-day score of 1-over par, 145.

Pickwick also placed in the top 10. She tied for 10th with a score of nine over par, 153.  Sharon Lau improved by four strokes on the second day and finished in a tie for 12th with a score of 10-over par for two days, 154.

Prados finished the tournament 12-over par. She shot a 156 and tied for 16th place. Durie scored 11-over par with an 83 on the second day, making her tournament total 25-over par, 169, and finished in a tie for 52nd place.

The TexAnns will travel to Lawton, Okla. to compete in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate for Women next Monday at Fort Sill Golf Club. Tarleton has finished top three in the first two tournaments.
