R.A.D. classes open for Fall

The Rape, Aggression, Defense (R.A.D.) program sponsored by the University Police has announced the first dates of classes for the Fall 2013 semester. The classes for last spring semester had the largest attendance ever.

There is no charge for this program but classes are limited in size and only offered for female students, faculty and staff. To ensure everyone gets the chance to attend the R.A.D. program they recommend signing up early for the class in Oct. This class is divided into four sessions on the 7, 8, 14 and 15 from 6-9 pm.

R.A.D. is a nationally recognized alliance of self-defense educators dedicated to enhancing defensive options for women and children, while developing their abilities to manage aggressive behavior. R.A.D. is the largest organization of its kind and it is the only such organization ever endorsed by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.

Attendees will meet in the foyer of the Kinesiology Building (Wisdom Gym) on Oct. 7th, and be directed to the class location by the instructors. This course has its foundations in education and awareness. The course includes lecture, discussion and self-defense techniques suitable for women of all ages and abilities.

The instructors for the R.A.D. classes are Detective Kristie Bint, Officer Steve Miller, and Officer Amanda Miller.

To register for the R.A.D. program, call Detective Kristie Bint at 968-9565 or email her at [email protected].
