The No. 30 Tarleton TexAnn tennis team was victorious for the second straight Lone Star Conference tennis match yesterday 5-4 against No. 12 Cameron. 

Doubles team Karla Martinez and Alicia Perez (recently returning from injury) won the No. 1 doubles match 8-4.  In the No. 2 matchup, Ivana Zecevic and Melanie Barnes also won 8-5.

April Downing and Makenzie Mitchell lost a close and tough bout 7-9.

In singles matches, Zecevic gave the TexAnns a win in a 6-3, 6-0 win for the No. 4 match. Perez lost 6-7, 2-6 in the No. 1 match, Martinez won a tough battle 6-1, 5-7, 7-5 in the No. 2 match, and Barnes won 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 3 match to secured the team’s victory. Silvia Nieva (No. 5 match) and Marina Rull (No. 6 match) both lost heartbreaking tiebreakers 3-6, 7-6, 7-10 and 6-7, 6-4, 5-10.

The TexAnns have their next match this weekend in El Paso beginning on Friday.
