Short films produced, edited, and acted in by students will be showcased April 19 at the 7th Annual Purple and White Film Festival. Genres of films represented will include narrative, documentary and experimental styles. The festival, hosted by the Department of Communication Studies, will be held in O.A. Grant, room 119, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The films include Abnormal Activity, a parody by Lindsey Rader, Sarah Richards, and Hannah Miller. The movie highlights suspenseful scenes from Paranormal Activity and features them in a humorous light.

In Someone Else’s Shoes is a documentary on homelessness. Lacey Smith-Horton interviews three Dublin High School students concerning homelessness with the director portraying a homeless person.

And in The Big Scare, David Sosa honors the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock.

“Whether it’s Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, the Coen brothers, Michael Winterbottom or David Lynch, all of the best contemporary filmmakers began by making shorts in college,” said Dr. Robert Anderson, the film students’ adviser.
