After a four-year process, members of the FarmHouse Fraternity at Tarleton State University were formally recognized as the newest chapter upon receiving its charter on Sunday, March 11.

The Tarleton chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity became the 45^th chapter to receive a charter from the international Greek organization based in Kansas City, and became the sixth Interfraternity Council (IFC) member on the university’s campus.

“I am so proud to be a part of the new FarmHouse chapter of Tarleton State University,” said chapter president Anthony Lee. “The chapter’s members have put so much hard work into receiving our charter, and we have finally reached our goal. According to our objective, ‘progress shall mark our every step,’ we have so much more to work for and so much more to look forward to.”

Seven members of FarmHouse Fraternity’s national volunteer board and five staff members from the organization’s headquarters attended the charter ceremony, which was hosted by the 42 charter members of the Tarleton chapter. Brent Bible, FarmHouse Fraternity’s international president, served as master of ceremonies.

“We’re excited to welcome the Tarleton State chapter of FarmHouse into our brotherhood. The men of the chapter have already shown themselves to be leaders on campus and within our wider international fraternity,” said Tim Hadachek, assistant director of chapter services at FarmHouse International Fraternity. “We congratulate our Tarleton State brothers on their efforts so far and look forward to continued success in the future.”

According to Lee, an interest group was formed on the Tarleton campus in 2008 to begin the process of establishing a FarmHouse colony. The international fraternity granted colony status on Feb. 7, 2010, which included a series of requirements to be carried out before the local members could submit its petition for a charter.

Current leadership of the local chapter includes: Sawyer Baldridge, vice president of administration; Stephen Seaback, vice president of recruitment; Britten Womack, vice president of finance; and Justin Hale, vice president of new member education. Mark Mobley served as chartering president before passing on the fraternity’s gavel to current president.

Prior to receiving its charter, the Tarleton FarmHouse colony’s members consistently boasted the highest GPA among fraternities on campus. In the fall of 2011, the group hosted a “Totally Baldacious” head shave in support of the official FarmHouse philanthropic cause, the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society.
