Family Weekend rewind

Making lasting memories

Family Weekend gives Tarleton State University students the opportunity to reunite with their families and show them everything Stephenville has to offer. Various activities are planned for families to enjoy throughout the weekend. Some of these events include tailgating at Texan Alley and watching the annual face off against Eastern New Mexico University.

The weekend’s festivities began on Friday, Sept. 16 with enough variety to cater to everyone’s interests. The annual Tarleton ring ceremony was conducted at 11 a.m. to kick things off. From there, activities such as family games, a planetarium film, and t-shirt sales were conducted.. This also included a massage trailer to help families wind down before the big game on Saturday. Parents were invited to the food court patio for a social event just before Ballet Folklorico began in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts building. The day concluded with casino night in the Barry B. Thompson student center ballrooms.

The Hurleys hosted a breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning for families to socialize with one another. Create a critter, one of the biggest hits every year, was hosted just before tailgate. This activity is great for students, parents, and even younger siblings.

At 6 p.m. , the Tarleton Texan football team laid it down for the loud and proud students and families. They were sure to not disappoint this weekend with a final score of 41-6 to close out the night. Over 13,000 fans showed up and showed out for the pride of the purple and the white and are sure to take this mentality on to the Texans next game against North Alabama.
