LeBron James, most famously known for his basketball skills and appearance in the movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” has recently published not his first, but second childrens book.

His first children’s book, “I Promise” has a review on Amazon of 4.9 stars with almost 6,500 reviews. It was published on Aug. 11 of 2020.

I Promise is a lively and inspiring picture book that reminds us that tomorrow’s success starts with the promises we make to ourselves and our community today. Featuring James’s upbeat, rhyming text and vibrant illustrations perfectly crafted for a diverse audience by #1 New York Times bestselling and Geisel Honor winning artist Nina Mata, this book has the power to inspire all children and families to be their best,” Amazon.com states.

James, a father of three, shared his love of opportunity and growth when asked about his reason for becoming an author.

“Books have the ability to teach, inspire, and bring people together. That’s why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me,” James reported to CNBC News.

The inspiration behind his first edition was the I PROMISE program, a program that James helps support.

“The LeBron James Family Foundation has invested millions of dollars to provide educational resources to the kids of Akron, James’ hometown. The I PROMISE program has 1,400 total students, including 343 students in grades 3-5 who attend a public elementary school supported by James,” CNBC reported.

With the success of his first book, James is raving about his new release on April 2.

“’I Am More Than’ is about believing in yourself and all the amazing things you’re capable of, which no one else can define for you. I hope everyone that reads it feels inspired to be ‘more than’ in everything they do,” said James in a press release. “With this next book, we [James and Mata] want to continue inspiring kids everywhere to keep dreaming big and not let anything hold them back.”

James shared a message on his social media accounts explaining the message he hopes this book serves to the younger generations.

“This book furthers my mission. It’s right on point with what my mission is, and what our mission is at IPS (I Promise School) and in my community. It’s important for us to continue to have these because these kids that we have, they look up to us. Not only in our hometown of Akron, Ohio, but all over the world. I am an inspiration. I understand that, and I have a huge responsibility on my shoulders and on my back. It’s important for me to continue to spread the positive word to these kids that understand they can become anything that they want,” James explained.

Not only is James excited about the new release, but many people on the books team have shared their thoughts as well.

“Luana Horry, the book’s executive editor, said the book ‘will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of leaders to be all that they dream to be … and more,’” CNN Sports said.

Since “I Promise” was a #1 New York Times bestseller, we can only wait to see what becomes of the April 2 release, “I Am More Than.”
