With the 2014 Tarleton State University football season ending, a few senior players reflected on their favorite moments of the 2014 season.

“This year’s win against West Texas has to be my top moment – actually I’d say it even tracks back to last year when we beat them here at home for the first time in our college careers,” said offensive lineman Lucas Love. “My favorite memory has to be ending the losing streak we had as a group against West Texas A&M-it had been a while and it was great for the school and us. Beating [them] at their house this year with last year’s win sticks out most in my mind.”

The Texans’ leader in interceptions, senior defensive back Charles Moore, reflected on his time spent on Fort Hood as a part of team bonding, saying Coach Fowler’s methodology in choosing the remote spot enabled “relationships to build with teammates.”

“My big thing with football has always been the relationships I have with teammates,” Moore said. “One thing we did this year that was new was having training camp outside of Stephenville. It made it to where we spent a lot of time with each other. It was great to [see] us older guys, who usually hang out by ourselves, establishing meaningful relationships with younger members of the team.”

Senior wide receiver Clifton Rhodes III, who during the 2014 season broke the record and became Tarleton’s all-time receiving yardage leader with 2,615 career yards, also became Tarleton’s all time leader in receptions with 189 recorded receptions.

“I just look forward to catching balls when they’re thrown my way-capitalizing on opportunities,” Rhodes said.

JTAC News wishes all of the Texan football seniors the best of luck in their next steps as they continue their journey after Tarleton.
