The TexAnns and Texan basketball team has a fan base not many schools have, but there’s something more than just the players and game attracting fans to their home games.

On Wednesday and Saturday nights, the Wisdom Gym stands are packed full with hopeful fans and small blue tickets in their pockets.

Each Texan basketball game, every patron receives a raffle ticket in hopes that the announcer will call their number during halftime. In the event when a number is called, you get one chance to make a half-court shot to win a cash prize, which increases by $100 each game no one makes the shot. The prize is now up to $2400.

Tarleton alumni and sponsor of the half-court shot, Brady Pendleton, a local Stephenville attorney, saw an opportunity to build more school spirit, and fill the stands in the process.

Pendleton, who graduated from TSU in 2008, is no stranger to school spirit He served as Tarleton’s student body president and as a member of the Purple Poo during his time at TSU.

Pendleton wants skeptics to know that in the event that a fan nails that half-court shot, he is fully prepared to give out the prize money.

“No matter the amount, I am paying it out in full [the next day],” Pendleton said.

Get your jump shots ready; your number could be called at the next game.
