TexAnns drop third straight match

The TexAnns couldn’t get out of their slump Tuesday night as they dropped their third match in a row to Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Tarleton ladies seem to be plagued by attack errors, adding 20 more errors to the 50 they committed in the previous two matches.

The TexAnns started the first set off by taking a 6-4 lead over the Lions. The lead didn’t last long, though, as the Lions went on an 11-5 run to take the lead 15-11. Tarleton came within two points of Texas A&M-Commerce, but couldn’t pull of a first set victory and went down 25-19.

The second set was not looking to be in the TexAnns favor as they were down 23-16. However, a Jasmyne Brown kill gave the TexAnns momentum for a 7-1 run to make them down by only one at 24-23 before the Lions landed the set-winning kill to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The TexAnns brought their second set momentum with them into the third set and held a 15-12 lead over the Lions. The TexAnns had just a slight lead over the Lions until 18-16 when a Jasmine Green kill started a 7-3 run to clinch their first winning set since Nov. 2.

The fourth set was a battle between the two teams, and Tarleton held only one lead at 7-6 before the Lions quickly took it back 15-10. After a Lion error, the TexAnns went on a 9-4 run to tie the set 19-19. The Lions followed with a 5-0 run of their own and set up match point at 24-19 before taking the final set 25-23.

Stacie Murrah had a team leading 14 kills, and Kelsey Raglin recorded her second double-double of the season with a personal career high of 11 kills and 24 digs.

Danielle Barker had a team leading 38 assists, while Emily Klein had 22, Covell with 14, and Lacy Hodges with 10. Each had double-figures in digs.

The TexAnns will be returning home this Saturday, Nov. 2, at noon against Angelo State Universtiy for senior night in Wisdom Gym. The seniors being honored include Green, Murrah, Barker, and Klein.

The TexAnns are now 14-13 overall and 7-8 in conference.
