TexAnns fall against No. 10 Angelo State

The Tarleton State University TexAnns came up short in three hard fought sets against the No. 10 Angelo State University Rambelles on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The TexAnns started of the first set strong taking a 10-9 lead, and continued to stay close with the Rambelles, tying 13-13. Tarleton fell after Angelo came up with a 12-6 run to take the first set.

The second set continued to be a tight race between the two Lone Star Conference teams. The TexAnns fell behind 20-17, but fought back with a five-point streak to take the lead 22-20.

Kaitlyn White and Jasmyne Brown had two straight kills to give Tarleton the 24-23 lead, but Angelo came up with three straight points to take the second set as well as a 2-0 lead in the match.

Going into the third set the TexAnns continued to fight hard and tied the set at 10. Tarleton could not come up with back-to-back points after that, and the Rambelles took the final set 25-10 after a 15-5 run. 

Katie Covell had a team leading eights kills while Jazmine Green with seven and Stacie Murrah with six were right behind her. The team as a whole had only a .059 hitting percentage. Emily Klein was the team leader with 20 digs. Covell had 14 digs of her own and Kelsey Raglin also added 13. Danielle Barker contributed with 24 assists.

The TexAnns will be traveling to play Dallas Baptist this Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Tarleton is now 9-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
