TexAnns Come Up Short to No. 11 Ranked West Texas A&M

The TexAnn volleyball team took to the court ready to take on the No. 11 ranked West Texas A&M University Lady Buffs Friday night. After taking the first set, the TexAnns just couldn’t seem to make the next three happen.

The first set started off back and forth for the teams. However, after Jazmine Green kill the momentum seemed to shift to the TexAnns and gave them an 8-7 lead. The Lady Buffs came back to tie the game at 10, but Tarleton had a 6-0 run, started by another kill by Green, to give them the lead back.

The crowd was excited and the TexAnns continued to serve up more points including a kill by Danielle Barker. The Tarleton ladies took the first set 25-17.

In the second and third sets, the TexAnns fell behind and the Lady Buffs did not let up. Tarleton tried to make a few runs during the sets, but after a 20-12 deficit in the second set and a 20-13 deficit in the third the TexAnns couldn’t build up enough momentum to come back.

In the final set the Lady Buffs out hit the TexAnns .289 to .062 and that was enough to take the set as well as the match.

Emily Klein led the team with 24 digs while Danielle barker added 12 more as well as a team leading 41 assists.

Stacie Murrah and Green each had 13 kills and Katie Covell was right behind them with 10 as well as 19 digs.
