Daughters of Anarchy barely outgun the Pistol Annies

It was a constantly tense bout as the Daughters of Anarchy from the Wichita Falls Derby Dames came to Lone Star Arena to face the Stephenville Cowboy Capital Rollergirls’ Pistol Annies.

The Pistol Annies pulled into an early lead with the score 20-11 in the first seven minutes, then up 33-11 within a few more minutes.

The Daughters of Anarchy started to regain some ground and had brought the score to 46-32 about 12 minutes in. A few minutes more and the Annies had regained much of their lead with the score at 67-33.

Just before halftime the Daughters kicked it into gear surpassing the Annies’ lead. At half time the Daughters of Anarchy were up by a mere 3 points. With less than 12 minutes left on the clock the two teams pulled into a tie, at 151-151.

The rest of the bout was a back and forth between the two teams, one narrowly ahead of the other at all times. The two teams rolled onto the track fairly evenly matched as evidenced by the final score of 207 to 193.

Both teams had strong jammers, with the Pistol Annies’ Hot Shot and Gillotine Grace racking up the points, but the Daughters of Anarchy’s Strawberry Deathcake and NOS Jamberlynn were tearing around the track, scoring points and controlling the jam very efficiently during the mid and late game. Ultimately the defeat seemed to come down to the Daughters of Anarchy maintaining stronger control over the jams.

The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls’ next bout will be a special doubleheader event on Saturday, Oct. 12, when they will duke it out with Ruby’s Revenge of Assassination City Roller Derby from San Antonio, followed by the Witchita Falls Derby Dames vs. the Rockin’ City Rollergirls from Round Rock. The spotlight charity will be Cross Timbers Family Services.
