TexAnn volleyball finishes 2-2 in ASU Tournament

 

Before the TexAnns volleyball home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 10, the team headed to the Angelo State Tournament this weekend. Kaitlyn White and Danielle Barker put up big numbers in the tournament.

White was just shy of four straight double-doubles, but fell short in the fourth match with only four digs. Despite that, she was able to help the TexAnns with 21 kills, a hitting percentage of .450, and 14 digs in the match against Colorado State-Pueblo. Barker got her first double-double of the season the first match of the tournament and helped the team with 36 assists in their win against Dallas Baptist on Saturday.

Stacie Murrah and Emily Klein were also a big help to the TexAnns in the tournament. Murrah had 10 kills in the match against Colorado State-Pueblo, and 13 digs in the loss against Arkansas-Fort Smith. Klein had 18 digs in the win against Colorado State-Pueblo, and led the team with 13 digs in the loss against Colorado Mesa.

The TexAnns came home with a record of 2-2 in the tournament. They won their first match of the tournament 3-1 against Colorado Sate Pueblo and won the final set of the match 25-13. They lost the second match of the day against Arkansas-Fort Smith 3-0. Saturday started off well with a 3-0 win against Dallas Baptist, before losing their last match of the tournament 3-0 against Mesa.
