Texan Cross Country finishes strong in first meet

This cross country season started out in Canyon at the WT Stampede at West Texas A&M University.

Tye Doty and Miles Joslin finished second and seventh, respectively, at the meet aiding in the men’s second place finish as a team.

Doty ran a time of 26:11 and Joslin finished with a time of 26:31.

James Polasek finished 18th (27:25), James Bodnar finished 19th (27:28), Luke Scribner finished 37th (28:53), and Robert Pereira finished 42nd (29:20).

After the meet, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association posted that Tarleton men’s is now No. 8.

On the girl’s side of the meet, the TexAnns returned home with fourth place.

Aly Couglin, representing Tarleton for the first time in a race, finished second with a time of 23:02 and freshman Audrey Shelton took 12th in 23:33.

Senior Lindsey Hinton ran for the first time since being honored as an all-region runner in 2011. Hinton finished 21st in the meet with a time of 24:06.

Finishing up for the TexAnns were Katelin Huckabee in 24th (24:12), Sarai Clendenin in 41st (24:57), and Lauren Finley in 58th (26:05).

The Tarleton cross country teams will run next on Oct. 5 in Fayetville, AR. They will compete in the Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas.
