TexAnn volleyball finishes No. 3 in the LSC

The TexAnn volleyball team finished the Lone Star Conference play in third place with a record of 15-5. Tarleton tied with Texas Women’s University but won the tiebreaker by defeating the Pioneers during the regular season.

The volleyball team finished with an overall record of 22-8. This record matches the second most winning season set in 2008 by Tarleton; the 2010 season leading the record by a mere one win with a total of 23.

San Angelo State University took first in the LSC regular season with a conference record of 18-2. The TexAnns lost to Angelo each time they faced the Rambells. San Angelo only fell to West Texas A&M and Texas Woman’s University.

The second place spot was achieved by West Texas A&M with a record of 17-3.

After losing to San Angelo State the TexAnns had a major winning streak, crushing all opponents in their way. At one point Tarleton had won nine games in a row. However, a lost to West Texas A&M ended the TexAnns momentum. The team went on to lose to the University of Incarnate Word and Texas A&M – Kingsville, both beatable teams proven earlier in the season.

The TexAnns managed to turn up the heat on a cold court and sweep Texas Women’s and Texas A&M – Commerce, ending their conference season on a good note.

On Nov. 15, the TexAnns traveled to the Junell Center in San Angelo for the Lone Star Conference Championship Volleyball Tournament.

At the beginning of the season the TexAnns were picked to finish fourth in the Lone Star Conference. However, by the end of the season, the purple and white proved that poll to be wrong. Showing that they were worthy of a chance at the LSC title. Although falling short of that goal, the TexAnns will come back next season stronger than ever and have that trophy on their minds.
