Can I have a ride?

If you have seen a golf cart on campus flying by with a student wearing a bright yellow vest, you probably just witnessed the new shuttle service that Tarleton State University is now offering to students.

If you need a quick way to get to class, or back to your residence hall, this is the way to go. There are stops all around campus that students can hitch a ride from. Most drivers also offer rides to students as they drive by.

Myles Brown, a freshman driver on campus, said that his job is helpful to students on campus when they need a ride or they don’t feel safe walking home at night.

“I’ve had a few weird experiences, but the best one involved the Poo,” Brown said.

Jacob Edwards, a junior driver on campus, added that other than the early morning wake up time, his job is overall a fun one to have.

“Nothing really out of the ordinary has happened to me, except people need rides to places that would take longer for me to take them, than it would be for them to walk,” Edwards said.

Both drivers said that they enjoy meeting so many new people on the job.

The shuttle service has already been used by thousands of students in the last month of school, with rides running from morning to evening.
