Texans beat Patriots in three game sweep

On Friday, Feb. 23 and Saturday, Feb. 24 the Texans paved the way to three straight victories against the Arlington Baptist Patriots.

During the first game Tarleton earned 11 runs and 13 hits both of which were season highs. Seven of the 13 hits were doubles. At the plate, Ryan Small was 3 for 4 and scored two runs. Players Alvaro Moreno, Fola Lajide, and Evan Robinson all achieved two hits. On the mound Pete Perez allowed three runs on 10 hits, struck out five batters, and walked none. After 5.1 innings, Troyal Kosko stepped in allowing only one walk and no hits.

The next day during their doubleheader the Texans outscored the Patriots 28-3.

The Tarleton defeated Arlington Baptist 19-3 during the first game. The Texans broke again their season high runs and their season high hits with 18 at the plate. Miguel Ramirez struck out seven batters, walked one, and allowed only one run on two hits.

During the last game, Tarleton shut out the Patriots 9-0. Matt Buckmaster struck out six batters and didn’t walk one batter during the nine innings of shutout baseball.

Ryan Small went 6 for at the plate and drove seven runs during both games. Alvaro Moreno completed the doubleheader going 5 for 9 and batted in two runs. Colten Boothe was 4 for 10 and hit in five runs.

Tarleton will face Southeastern Oklahoma University in Durant, OK. in a doubleheader starting at noon.
