Tarleton vs. Wesleyan

The Tarleton State University Texans took on Texas Wesleyan University on Feb. 28 and won 9-7.

To start the game, TWU scored two runs in the first due to a hit and a Texan error.

Tarleton answered back in the bottom of the first with a walk by Ethan Stuckly, and with Stuckly on first, Blake Silguero came up to bat. With a runner on first, Silguero hit a two-run homer to out of left field to equalize the game at 2.

During the next two innings, the Tarleton offense came alive. Jonathan Schmitz hit a single to lead off the second inning and was scored when Evan Robinson hit a double into left field. With Robinson on second, Noah Ringenberger came up to bat and hit a double to score Robinson making the score 4-2 Texans after two innings.

 In the fourth, Stuckly got on base due to getting hit by the pitch and Garrett Hardey stayed in the inning by beating out a throw.

 

Schmitz once again, hit for a single and this time it loaded the bases. Stuckly was scored with a single to make it a 5-2 game in the Texans favor. 

Robinson and Andrew Wolfe both scored a run by way of a hit by pitch and a sac fly with the bases loaded. Then, Ringenberger came up and hit an RBI scoring the fourth run of the inning.

With the score 8-2 in the Texans favor, TWU capitalized on Tarleton miscues and scored four runs in the fourth by way of a hit, an error, two walks, a hit by pitch, and a sac fly. At the end of the inning, the score was 8-6 Tarleton.

 The fifth and sixth inning went scoreless.

Texas Wesleyan cut the Tarleton lead in half with an RBI ground out.

 

With the score 8-7 in the eighth, Ringenberger hit a homerun off of a new Ram pitcher to make the game 9-7 Tarleton.

 

In the Tarleton half of the ninth, Britt Robertshaw came to pitch and put the game away with a Tarleton win over Texas Wesleyan University of 9-7.
