Tarleton sweeps Cameron

The Texans and TexAnns took on the Cameron Aggies on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and both faired well.

The TexAnns played first and the score remained empty for over a minute until Cameron’s Ali Brown fouled Shelby Adamson. Adamson hit both free throws and put the TexAnns on top 2-0. One minute later Adamson struck again with a layup, putting the TexAnns up by four.

Cameron began their comeback and swiftly took the lead. Tarleton and Cameron traded the lead back and forth for a short while before the TexAnns scored 10 unanswered points, giving them a solid lead that would last to the end of the game. The TexAnns beat Cameron 71-59.

Adamson ended up scoring 21 points, nearly a third of the total points scored by the TexAnns.

The No. 16 Texans were up next and after one minute of play, began their assault. Chris Harrell drew first blood, hitting a three pointer. The Texans were uncontested until Cameron’s Desmond Henry put up the first points by the Aggies, making the score after four minutes 7-2.

As the first half continued the Aggies were not able to get into any rhythm. The Texans capitalized on this and more than doubled the score put up by Cameron. As the first half ended the Texans were on top 36-14.

Tarleton’s second half performance was no different than their first. The Texans would either match or put up two points for every one that the Aggies obtained. A slam-dunk by Fabian Wilson exemplified the Texan dominance of the game and crushed any hope that the Aggies had of a comeback.

When the game ended Tarleton was declared the victor, 66-41.

Both the Texans and TexAnns play again on Dec. 7 against A&M Kingsville, in Kingsville. Their next home game is Dec. 10 against Incarnate Word. The games begin at 7 p.m. at Wisdom Gym.
